NetLearn Sketch #2: Introductory Comments

In the first sketch, I hand-drew mockups of an interface for annotation of examples of work with respect to criteria such as Principles and Indicators. That sketch was specifically intended to explore ideas about annotations and the study of examples, and did not address the larger context of the NetLearn System.

This second sketch takes the opposite approach. Here, I have created an actual web site that attempts to cover the various kinds of information and activities that might be available in NetLearn. This sketch has some limitations. Naturally I have not implemented the interactive functionalities, such as annotation facilities, discussion forums, portfolios that the user can contribute to, etc., as thse require programming a database-backed server. Also, it is a rather conventional web site design. The various kinds of information and activities that are available are provided as separate pages rather than in an integrated work space.

In future sketches, I would like to bridge the two approaches. I'd like the interface to be as easy to use as a well designed web site, but for the various information and tools provided by the site to be accessible from virtually anywhere within the site. It would have more the feel of a workspace into which various resources and tools can be brought, rather than a hypermedia space to be "navigated" or searched.

This sketch works like a web site. There is no guided tour for the most of the sketch. (Exception: there is a mini-tour under "Examples".) Explore the links freely as you wish, and use the SEND COMMENT link to obtain a comment form if desired.
