Belvedere 3 has been integrated with a standard threaded discussion news server (NNTP), thanks to the work of Xiaohua Chen (independent study project) and Bin Ma (LILT RA). Students can post messages about their evidence model, and include references to objects in their diagrams in the messages simply by clicking on the objects. See the screen image below. If you click on a small icon in the message it will highlight (in yellow) the corresponding object in the diagram, so it is easy to tell what the writer was talking about. In the example a data item is highlighted.

The discussion can also be accessed via a standard newsgroup reader. The diagrams are saved on the NNTP server (as special messages), and can also be saved locally.
