Why do a project with LILT?

Student projects (such as ICS 499, ICS 699, Honors 496 thesis, or ICS 700 thesis projects) are an excellent way to have fun while also fulfilling graduation requirements. Also, you gain unique experience that will help you stand out from the crowd when looking for a job and help prepare you for projects in the world of work.

However, a quality, in-depth project requires resources and background work beyond what you as an individual student may be able to muster. You'll need access to good hardware. You'll be able to get a lot further if you build on top of other people's software. You'll also need guidance.

A really great solution is to do a project that contributes to the work of an active research and development laboratory, such as ours! The lab provides you with computing resources, some interesting software to build on, and ideas for projects and guidance in carrying them out. Your work could even be published and used by others long after you graduate from UH.

Here you can find a partial list of ideas for projects that are currently available. Also, please browse the main web site for more information about our lab, particularly the software and research sections.
