Student Projects In Progress

As of October 2003 ...

Nathan Dwyer and David Burger (both for 699) are working on a fundamental reconceptualization of the infrastructure for collaborative systems using Belvedere-style representations. In a project called House Party, Nathan is providing an elegant framework for user-extensible representations and exploring how representations might arise from a "sub-semantic" level of relationships. David is examining operational transformations as a means of keeping distributed representations synchronized, and developing persistent storage for House Party.

Astrid Tomsic (ICS 699)is working on ways to use PDAs for distributed collaboration via annotations attached to objects.

Mike Satake (ICS 699) is doing usability testing and refinement of the question answering facility on the hawaiianatolls.org web site.

Wiil Doane is finishing his Masters thesis on evaluation of the use of hnlc.org.
