National Science Foundation Visitors

On January 24-25th, 2002, the Hawai`i Networked Learning Communities initiative (LILT is a major partner) hosted National Science Foundation visitors Jane Stutsman (Deputy Assistant Director, Directorate for Education & Human Resources), Costello Brown (Division Director, Educational Systemic Reform), and Jody Chase (Program Manager, Rural Systemic Initiatives).

On the first day, we visited Waikoloa School, saw the "Just Think Mobile" at Waimea Middle School, met the Honoka`a school principal, and visited Laupahoehoe school on the Big Island. On the second day, we met with DOE Superintendent Pat Hamamoto and visited UH's Coconut Island research facility. The visit provided us with a valuable opportunity for early feedback on our implementation plans.
