Assignment 5: Information and Interaction Design (due 2/23)
Constantine & Lockwood Ch. 7-9;
Constantine et al. (20003): From Abstraction to Realization: Abstract Prototypes Based on Canonical ComponentsConstantine (2003): Canonical Abstract Prototypes for Abstract Visual and Interaction Design
The book chapters cover various consideratons in layout design and choice of widgets. The online articles are good discussions of issues in mapping from abstract interface architecture to widget choice and layout. The online articles are essential reading.
These writings cover Constantine & Lockwood's take on some of the same issues as Information and (to a lesser extent) Interaction design in SBD, although Interaction design is addresssed more directly in the previous work with Essential Use Cases. The online article also begins to touch on prototyping, which we will get to next week..
Assignment 6, Abstract Prototypes for Collaborative Calendars, is due in a week and will be the last assignment on the calendar.
The project proposal will also be due next week. See Assignment 7.
