The purpose of this assignment:
To become familiar with SBD's information/interaction scenarios
and associated design methods. To compare this to UCD's abstract
interface architecture.
Please do the following:
As usual, you should turn this work in as individuals, but
may work with up to 2 other students to discuss the assignment and
try the methods on each other.
In this assignment it is important that your work is consistent
with and a refinement of the work of previous assignments. In other
words, prior design representations should inform the work you do
here, and not be ignored.
-
Read Rosson & Carroll
Chapter 4 & 5 on
information and interaction design. For the purposes of this
assignment, focus on metaphors, scenarios, claims analysis
and storyboarding.
-
Write two interaction/information scenarios (you may combine
these two aspects in each scenario if you wish), supported
with informal sketches or a storyboard as you
see fit. [NEXT YEAR ADD: "These scenarios should expand on your activity scenarios."]
-
Revise and extend your previous claims matrix to reflect
this scenario.
-
Make a web page that includes all of the documents you created.
Include a paragraph or two summarizing what you learned about
the potential utility of these design representations and comparing
the scenario-based approach to the usage-centered interface
architecture from the previous assignment.
Please make this a different web page
than the one for Assignment 4.
-
Submit your assignment in the disCourse Assignment 5 discussion
(the URL of your page will be the "web address").
- Comment on at least the assignment submitted before you, and
preferably on more.
