Assignment 11: Project Physical Design

The purpose of this assignment:

  • To develop your physical design based on your conceptual design
  • To try out methods such as information and interaction scenarios (SBD) and content and navigation models (UCD) on a real project
  • To evalulate the suitability of the design methodologies you have chosen
  • To prepare for prototype implementation

Please do the following:

The details of this assignment depend on your project. If your project is following an entirely different trajectory through the star model, just let me know and we'll negotiate different requirements for this assignment.

Develop your Physical Design using at least one of the following. Groups of more than one person are required to do more than one:

  • SBD: Interaction, and Information Scenarios, with claims analysis (required) and sketches, storyboards, other visual materials as needed
  • UCD: Contexts and Navigation map and Abstract layouts. (Be sure to indicate which EUCs these address.)

These should be derived from your conceptual design: be sure to make clear to us the relationship between the conceptual and physical design! These should explore pre-implementation designs that you can show to and discuss with users, possibly leading to revisions that are made before undertaking a prototype.

As a group, write a brief discussion of what you learned about the value of the methods.

Compile this material into web pages with an appropriate guide, and post to disCourse in a new thread under the discussion for Assignment 11.

Then view and comment on the requirements for some other projects.

Due Midnight 4/9

To be discussed in class 4/11, so we need to review this 4/10
