Assessment: Spring 2005

This is my plan for Spring 2005:

  • Individual assignments (20%): Individuals apply design or evaluation methodologies to a small example project. (This is how we learn about the methdologies.)
  • Group Assignments (50%): Design and evaluation of the design of a human-computer system interface. (This is where we apply the methdologies that we like the best.) Evaluation of group assignments will include peer evaluation of individuals' contributions.
  • Participation (10%): Includes participation in online or classroom discussion and design critiques.
  • Final Exam (20%): Tests knowledge of design and evaluation methodologies, including materials from the readings. Most likely format is a take home essay (which should be taken very seriously).

It should not be necessary to mention this, but for legal reasons I must post my policy: plagiarism (presenting or using others' work as if it were your own or without proper attribution) is a form of cheating, and will result in 0 (zero) credit for the assignment and (depending on severity, at the discretion of the instructor) possibly for the course. Incidents may also be reported to the graduate dean in accordance with university policy.
