Generally, news will be posted in our disCourse workspace, and not posted here.
This page is primarily for news that cannot be posted in disCourse
because some students have not yet gotten an account or there is
a server problem.
April 5th - disCourse
What happened to disCourse: The Ruby on Rails version was released on the 3rd. It was slow because the fast CGI processes were filling up memory. Then on the evening of the 4th, an automated build script wrote our development database over the production database. The last tape backup was about 23 hours before this happened, so we lost some data from Tuesday April 4th.
Everything should be safe now, though we are still working on performance issues.
