Objectives
- To get some experience doing heuristic review and walkthroughs of a web site actually in use
- To practice producing a quality written report
- To get some extra credit! This will be equivalent to one of the individual assignments.
What to do
1. Read section 13.4 of our textbook on expert review (evaluation by inspection). You will be the expert.
2. Perform a usability evaluation review of "Prometheus" at hnlc2.ics.hawaii.edu.
- This is a new version of disCourse so comparisons are appropriate.
- You should be able to log in with your disCourse login.
- This system has a copy of the database as of a few weeks ago. You can post things without messing up our actual system.
3. Write up your review in a professional manner, using the concepts from 13.4 wherever they apply, and designed to be useful to system designers and developers. Although it would be nice to know in what ways this site improves upon disCourse, it's more important to identify usability defects.
4. Post to the class General Discussion at http://discourse.ics.hawaii.edu/alu/discframe.php?discId=377. A thread will be provided there.
Due by Saturday March 18th
We expect to release the site within a week, so timeliness is important.
